To Protect and Serve–that is the overall mission of a police officer. But what does that really mean? What is it like to have the enormous responsibility of protecting lives and property and serving citizens? If you have ever considered a career in Law Enforcement, or if you would just like to learn more about what the North Little Rock Police Department has to offer, the Citizen’s Police Academy is the place for you!

During the seven week course, which will meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-9:00 p.m., participants will learn about different functions of the NLRPD. Dinner will be provided at each session, and there is no fee to enroll. Knowledgeable officers, investigators, and supervisors from areas like patrol, recruiting, criminal investigations, narcotics, internal affairs, K-9, and S.W.A.T. will provide an overview of each division and give hands on demonstrations. Upon completion of the course, participants enjoy a banquet graduation ceremony and are presented with a Citizen’s Police Academy Diploma.

The mission of the CPA is to educate and inform the community of neighborhood problems, to provide a forum for police/community interaction, and to foster a partnership with the community that will enhance better problem solving. The CPA is a community service of the NLRPD to educate citizens about police functions and to enhance community relations. It is not an accredited law enforcement academy, and graduates are not certified law enforcement officers.
